Velcor Energy LLC ("Velcor", "we", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you entrust to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have as the data subject. It applies to all users of velcorenergy.com, electricity service requests, and any communication with our team.
011. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to process your Texas electricity service request: • Contact data: first name, last name, email address, mobile phone. • Service address: physical address, city, ZIP code, ESIID when applicable. • Plan data: service type (residential, apartment, commercial), estimated consumption, TDU provider (CenterPoint, Oncor, AEP Texas, TNMP). • Identity verification: date of birth (used exclusively for customer-portal verification and fraud prevention). • Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, session duration, and referrers — via first-party and analytics cookies.
022. How we use your information
We use your data exclusively for: • Processing your electricity contract request and coordinating activation with the corresponding TDU. • Generating real estimates using public meter data (ESIID) and authorized rate-comparison APIs. • Contacting you by WhatsApp, phone, or email to complete, update, or follow up on your service. • Sending transactional notifications (confirmations, activation reminders, invoices, payment alerts). • Complying with Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) regulations. • Preventing fraud, verifying identity, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
033. Sharing with third parties
Velcor Energy does NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share strictly necessary data with: • Authorized ESIID validation and rate-comparison APIs — to validate availability and calculate energy estimates. • Utility companies (CenterPoint, Oncor, AEP Texas, TNMP) — to confirm ESIID and coordinate enrollment. • PUCT-certified Retail Electricity Providers (REPs) — only when you activate your chosen plan. • Payment processors (Stripe or similar) — when you make payments in the portal. • Legal authorities — if required by court order, subpoena, or applicable law.
044. Cookies and similar technologies
We use essential cookies (site operation, session authentication), analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) to understand aggregate behavior, and preference cookies (language selection, saved ZIP). You may disable cookies in your browser, but some features may stop working.
055. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards: TLS 1.3 encryption in all communications, bcrypt password hashing, JWT session tokens expiring in 12 hours, and role-based access control. No system is 100% secure; in the event of a security incident we will notify affected users and competent authorities within legal timeframes.
066. Data retention
We retain your information while you have an active account with Velcor and for an additional 7-year period after service termination, in line with Texas accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements. After that, data is anonymized or securely deleted.
077. Your rights as a consumer
As a Texas resident and/or U.S. consumer you have the right to: • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data. • Request deletion (subject to legal retention obligations). • Limit or object to certain uses of your data. • Withdraw consent where applicable. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@velcorenergy.com with your request and reasonable proof of identity. We respond within 30 calendar days.
088. Minors
Our services are intended for people 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us to remove it immediately.
099. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect legal, regulatory, or practice changes. The "Last revised" date will appear at the top of the document. For material changes we will notify you by email and/or prominent site notice.
